For payments directly debited by a payee, I list that payee as '- Auto (date)' so I know when they are automatically withdrawn. So if Brighthouse is scheduled to always draft their payment from my account on the 11th, my payee is Brighthouse - Auto 11. When I look at my scheduled bills, I can easily see which ones are automatically debited and which ones I have to pay myself. At the beginning of each month I enter all of my auto payees so they are in my register.

With online bill pay from my bank, I enter the transaction into my register with the date of when it's scheduled to be drafted. I never wait to enter those transactions...even if I schedule it to be paid 2 weeks from now.
