is there a way to budget for a two week pay period instead of monthly? It would be nice to be able to adjust the dates depending on when you get paid. Also- it would be nice to add catagories. It's a bit frustrating at the moment. thank you

You can add a catagory by clicking on add catagory on the top right hand side of the screen. It's in green. You can also delete a catagory by clicking on delete catagory right next to add catagory. I am not sure about the 2 week budget part though.

I am also trying to create a two week budget example:
I was paid on the 8th of Oct and then again on the 22 oct. I want my budget to run between those dates.
NOT Oct 1 - Oct 30.

Same here! Without a two-week budgeting option the product is almost useless!

Though it IS possible to look at your trends for a very specific period, there's currently no way inside of Quicken Online to budget for a non-month period. In the desktop versions of Quicken, it is possible to change the budget to several periods, from monthly to weekly to quarterly; even only for one month (if you are expecting to purchase Christmas gifts, for example.)

Alternatively, if you are feeling adventurous, you might try crafting your own budget with a spreadsheet program. Create a column for category names, then make several additional columns for projected amounts and actual amounts (one pair for each period). Then, make rows for each category. Fill in the information from the "trends" page on Quicken Online. Of course, you won't get the fancy tracking and graphing features of Quicken without a little side work, but there are probably some websites you can search for that will give you info on "pie chart excel", "line graph excel", and even "budget worksheet excel" to help you get started.

If all that wounds like a bit too much work for you, then perhaps a desktop version of Quicken might be a little simpler.

I have tried to use the idea of a four weeks instead of a monthly budget, but the problem is that most bills need to be payed monthly.
It is best to BUDGET monthly using 2 paycheck and you will end up with two extra pays a year..
(Use one for vaction and one for Christmas)...

The other way is to use "Upcoming Transactions" in your checking account, since the bills are not equal for each pay. If you enter all bills as monthly, then just keep an eye on the bottom balance and you will always have one pay check in your account. (This is important if you ever lose your job)...
