Quicken Deluxe 2005
Windows XP
Hi,

When I try to check for Software Updates I get the error message "Failed to check for Software Updates". I did have a crash (power supply failure), bought a new computer (not too much more expensive than a Compaq power supply - but that's another story), and was only able to save the content of my C Drive (including QMEM) by turning it into an external drive on the new machine. Since I purchased QMEM on line, I had no disk to reinstall so I copied to my new machine. The program runs fine except for software updates. I'm assuming that problem is related to the crash etc. If so, how do I fix it? If not, how do I fix it?

An unrelated question. Is there a "best usage" for calendar year change? Should I just continue adding my 2006 data to my 2005 data or should I start a new 2006 file?

Thanks

Larry Bauer

The problem is more likely related to the program not being properly installed. You can re-download your file for up to three years from the date of purchase. Go back to the Quicken <or QuickenMedical> web site, log into your account, and click on "My Downloads". Re-download the program and properly install it.

Since you will be able to get version 2 for free, you really want to make every effort to have this version 1 running properly before v2 is released. ;-)

This question has already been asked. For my full answer, please search these forums <in the process, you may run across some other interesting tidbits>. For my short answer, just continue adding your new year's data.

And welcome.
