I somehow managed to create a "Service" item that should have been a "Drug" item. Now I cannot delete the item in the service list so that the application will let me create the correct drug entry. All that I am allowed to do is to "Hide" the the service item so that I cannot access it in the future. BUT, I sill cannot create the item as a drug unless I use a substitute name - or some derivative thereof. I would REALLY like to delete the incorrect entry. Can anyone help?
Why isn't this application built on the Quicken architecture? While I am moderately happy with it, there are so many things wrong. THe above example is just one of many that illustrate how far removed it is from what we would expect from Quicken. Where's the integration with Quicken? Another discussion, I know...
Thanks for the redirect. I still think that it would be great if, for example, I were entereing a simple credit card purchase in Quicken that included a medical expense, Quicken would offer to post the medical expense to QMEM (if QMEM were installed) thus eliminating the need for double entry. THis feature should have a switch that would allow it to be turned off/on as desired.

Edit the faulty service entry and give it a name that doesn't conflict with the drug. You can give it either a nonsensical name, or a name of a service you may use in the future. You can then choose to hide it or leave it visible for the next time you want to add a service. Then add the drug with its proper name.
bifrap, what's a "medical lottery" and do I want to
play? ;)
No LanMan, you most certainly don't want to play. Below may be more than many of you want to read....but for those who want to learn why our family uses QMEM (& possibly others dealing with chronic/life-threatening illnesses) please continue on. <we're $50k/yr -- that's a "good" year btw>
Our oldest daughter (10.5) is one of ~350 in the world dx'd with Familial Dysautonomia (Dis-auto-no-mia): FD. It's just one of a number of genetic disorders that are solely or disproportionately linked to individuals of Ashkenazi (eastern European) Jewish descent.
Many folks are familiar with Tay-Sachs. We were tested for that prior to marriage. There was no testing for FD in '93 but FD has the same carrier rate. It's a recessive gene - 25% chance w/each pregancy. Our youngest (6.5) is a carrier but not affected -- we used genetic linkage analysis via CVS testing with her. Today, the process is easier since the gene was discovered ~4 yrs ago.
With gene discovery, population screening is available but often you must ask the dr. b/c many don't know to recommend it. If anyone knows a couple of childbearing age where both have some Jewish ancestory PLEASE do them a favor & urge them to get tested prior to pregancy. Personal decisions are difficult at that point. But having information is key. Most aren't aware that there's a 25% chance that they're a carrier of at least one of the 11 disorders currently tested on the full Askenazi panel screening. If both partners are carriers of the SAME disorder, then there's a 25% chance of having an affected child; 75% that the child will be fine. Genetic counselors are there to help with options -- there are many. Keep in mind - your genes don't care if how religious you are. This is background ....i.e. you're 25% Jewish & your spouse is 50% Jewish; you've converted to another religion or if neither of you don't practice anything! there are have cases of one Jewish partner & a Catholic partner only for the Catholic partner to learn that their grandparents had converted many years ago to escape persecution.
I'm happy to provide additional info offline if anyone is interested (many times FD goes undiagnosed for years). I know we're not supposed to give personal emails here. So, please contact QBruce or QLisa & via this message, they have my permission to give it for serious inquiries.
Sorry this is so long --I know that some dislike long posts as was noted over the weekend -- but I had to here. My life passion is raise awareness for FD & other genetic disorders for any ethnic groups. Awareness is key.
I certainly don't want to play, but unfortunately we are spinning a very simular wheel with our 3 year old. Even though we had genetic counseling during pregnancy it would seem that more genetic testing is our next step. I certainly feel for you, and have a real understanding of why QMEM is needed for those of us with ongoing family medical expenses.

Sounds like you don't have a DX yet...not that it makes things better but does help you move forward (I know it does). Let me know if I can be of further help. We're in Chicago but have contacts elsewhere - especially NY. Fortunately or unfortunately, we've learned quite a bit after ten years. On the bright side, we've met amazing people (who are now good friends) that we've never would have otherwise.
We're not doctors, we just play one in real life....

PS hopefully the "trick" for getting in touch w/me works. Otherwise, we'll figure it out...it's not that hard really.

Also, clicking on a forum member's user name will bring you to a User Profile screen for that user. Next to the 'email' line, there is a "Contact Me" link where you can send an e-mail to that user via the forum software. You can choose to reveal your e-mail address as known to the forum.
So if you are interested in opening a dialog with bifrap, you can do this without having to involve any Quicken personel, which they may be forbidden my company policy from doing anyway; even with permission.
Back to the topic of deleting items from a list. My solution--if you have a new service you want to add, just "edit" the mistake drug entry to be the name of the new service you want. Mistake gone--new service in list! You basically overwrite a mistake with a totally new service by using edit.
