I am having a difficult time setting this up to track my deductibles. I have studied the Help file "About copays and deductibles", even to the extent of substituting my numbers in place of the sample numbers, and cannot get this situated.

My insurer does NOT count copays towards my deductible. When I follow the help file and enter the items, it does not show up in my deductible report.

When I enter a bill that has a copay only, that copay is then showing up as a deductible in my report!

Any simple explanation for entering and tracking deductible amounts?

Other than working through this problem, I love the new version!

David

As you read in the help file, there is no way to automatically not apply your co-pay to the deductible amount. The only way to do this is to have a service on the expense for which the amount billed is exactly the amount of your co-pa

I took a look at deductible tracking and decided it is more effort than value added. My EOBs include a very clear deductible status ... so I don't plan to mess with deductible tracking in QMEM. ?:|

I'm disappointed that there weren't 2 separate areas of entry: copay & deductible Most Plans are clear in what they mean. Then we could've toggled on/off whether the expense applied toward our annual OOP maximums. The way it is now, I need to use the "copay" option for my deductible & all OOP expenses. Not traditional copay (the $20 copay spent when going to the doc or for a Rx). These do not apply to our OOP maximums nor to our lifetime maximums.

Unfortunately, you're right, Barrie. MEM automatically includes copays into deductibles, which isn't always the case.

Sorry about that, we tested deductibles late in the process and frankly we just missed this one.

There is a workaround in Help ("About copays and deductibles "), which is correct but it's an extra step.

Regards,

Bruce

thanks Bruce. I'd have to reread the HELP section tip. I skimmed thru it. I seemed to recall the advice was to create new service codes which really doesn't work for us. Unless I create multiple services such as "Office Visit - Copay"; "Office Visit-Deductible"; "OT - Deductible"; "OT-OOP"; "PT-OOP"; etc. This is a lot of work to create multiple codes for the same service.

I may not have a choice since we about to change insurance co's & are incurring double deductibles/OOP's this year. hard to keep it all straight.
